Righteousness Conscious! 3

Righteousness Conscious! 3

“For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.” Romans 10:3

Beloved, the way God sees things is different from what we humans see in our world. We are ignorant of what He sees, though it is hard to know or believe what God sees despite the evidence presented to us. This is why we must seek to understand Him and His ways.

For instance, in John 8.3-12, the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery to Jesus, saying she was worthy of death because of her sins. While everyone was expecting Jesus to fall into their trap and condemn the woman to death with the sin of adultery, Jesus said to them: “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” But nobody was able to throw a single stone.

Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Let us paraphrase the story again. First of all, notice they brought the woman alone. Next, they also had sinned; hence it is not in their place to condemn anyone. The only one who could condemn did not do the same thing as they expected; instead, Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.” Though, I am not saying that we should Condon sin as acceptable. Instead, we should be careful about how we judge and condemn people.

Brother and sister, let mercy prevail over evil. If you have been saved by grace and mercy, then allow that mercy to flow through you to others as well. Until you allow God’s mercy to start flowing through you before you can start seeing things the way God sees them. Begin to see the good in people because there is a blessing in disguise through grace. James 3:18 says, “And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”

Prayer:
1. Father, I pray for your spirit to bring me into the light of truth and love to see others as you see them.
2. Lord, I ask that you grant me the power and wisdom to know what is right and wrong in Jesus’ name. Amen.
