“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16
In our journey of growth and self-improvement, it is crucial to seek out mentors and role models who can guide us along the way. Just as iron sharpens iron, so too do wise counsel and godly example sharpen our character and faith (Proverbs 27:17).
Just like a young sapling needs the guidance of an older tree to flourish, we need the wisdom and experience of those who have walked the path before us. As the saying goes, If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Surrounding ourselves with mentors and role models can provide us with valuable insights, encouragement, and accountability.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
The Bible is full of examples of mentorship and leadership, from Moses guiding Joshua to Jesus training his disciples. We are called to learn from these stories and seek out our own mentors in various areas of our lives. So let us not be afraid to reach out and ask for help, for it is through humble willingness to learn that we truly grow in wisdom and grace.
Let us remember the words of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – Two are better than one…for if they fall, one will lift up their companion. But woe to the one who falls when no one can lift them up. Seek mentors and role models today, for in doing so, we will find strength, growth, and a deeper connection with God’s purpose for our lives. Numbers 11:14 says, “I am not able to bear all these people alone because the burden is too heavy for me.”
Prayer for the Day!
Holy Spirit, help me to seek out my helpers of destiny, that their presence may be revealed to me in divine timing. May I be led toward those who are destined to support and uplift me on my journey. In the name of Jesus, I ask for clarity and discernment to recognize these individuals when they come into my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
