Self-Discipline- Make Forming good Habits Your Goal

“Look at those who are honest and good, for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.” Psalm 37:37

Many people struggle with forming good habits, let alone keeping them up. Whether waking up early, working out, eating healthy, or studying, it can be tough to stick to a routine. But it’s worth it! Not only does forming good habits lead to better physical and mental health, but it also leads to increased productivity and a more successful life.

Forming good habits can be difficult, but it is important to start with small goals and build from there. When trying to form a new habit, it’s important to start small. If your goal is to wake up at 6 am every day, start by waking up at 6:30 am for a week. Once you’ve mastered that, move on to 6 am the next week. And so on. This gradual approach will make it easier for you to stick to the habit, and eventually, you’ll be able to do it without even thinking about it.

Joshua 1:7 says, “Above all, be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe all the law that My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or left, so you may prosper wherever you go.”

Secondly, try to make a plan. To make forming good habits a priority, you must have a plan. For example, what time will you wake up each day? What time will you study? What time will you work out? Planning your day will make you more likely to stick to your goals. Lastly, find a support group. Finding a support group of people who are also trying to form good habits can be helpful. This group can offer encouragement and accountability, which will help you stay on track. As proverb 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Forming good habits may seem daunting, but it can be done with a bit of effort and planning! Just remember to start small, make a plan, and find a support group. Additionally, developing self-discipline through good habits instills a sense of excellence and accomplishment, which are important for sustaining drive. And it helps you create the atmosphere that is conducive to success. Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Prayer:
Numbers 6:26-may the LORD lift His countenance toward you and give you peace in Jesus’ name. Amen.
