Self-Discipline – Understand your priorities
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by renewing your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
One of the essential keys to self-discipline is the ability to prioritize and manage one’s time and resources to achieve goals. It is an important life skill that can help individuals succeed academically and professionally. Those who are self-disciplined can set boundaries for themselves and stick to them, even when faced with temptation or distractions. They understand the importance of doing what is necessary to reach their goals and are willing to make sacrifices to stay on track.
Though many people struggle with self-discipline, they want to be disciplined but find it difficult to do what they need to do. Part of the problem may be that they do not understand their priorities. I Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” This means that we can all overcome temptation if we put our trust in God.
John 4:34 says, “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.”
Brethren, if we put these priorities into practice, we will find it much easier to discipline ourselves because, with self-discipline, we can learn to recognize our priorities and put God first in our lives. The Bible tells us that our priority should be to do what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. This is a priority because, without it, we will not be able to test or approve anything else (Romans 12:2). Therefore, understanding your priorities and working towards them regardless of distractions is essential for success in any area of life.
Successful people understand their priorities and work towards them regardless of distractions. So, I encourage you to make a conscious effort to focus on your priorities, so you can avoid those distractions that can hinder your progress. If you are struggling to overcome distractions that keep you away from achieving your goals, then you need to take it to God in prayer and ask him to help you. He will answer your prayers and give you the strength to overcome. By doing so, you can achieve success in any area of life. Amen. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Amen.
Prayer:
1. Lord, help me to do your will and be kingdom minded in every area of my life.
2. May the Lord connect you with your divine helper and open the door of a breakthrough in that area you are seeking God before the end of this year in the name of Jesus. Amen.
