Sound Mind, Not Fear! 2
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
Never be afraid in your darkest hour or moment because the Lord’s presence is always with you. Fear does great harm to the person’s ability to be quiet and distracted, but faith gives us the ability to focus and think clearly. Unfortunately, fear is a powerful tool for controlling our thoughts and actions when we allow it. The more we use fear, the stronger it becomes. Fear can be used as a weapon against our minds, making us think irrationally about God’s protection.
Fear is a dangerous thing that can lead people astray, and if we embrace it more, we will lose sight of God as our protector. I remember a story of Elisha’s servant in 2 Kings 6, who was in great fear when he saw an army with horses, chariots, and a great host early in the morning, surrounded the city of Dothan; His heart almost failed before he cried out to Elisha saying “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” Elisha replied: “don’t be afraid,” and prayed to God to open his eye. When his eyes opened, his fears vanished because he saw a mountain full of horses and chariots of fire ready to fight on their behalf.
Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep them in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”
Brethren, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith, because it is when we lose sight of him that we lose sight of who we are. When we forget our protector and believe the lies of the Devil, our hearts also begin to fail us. Dorothy Thompson said, “Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.” In other words, when you don’t invest in fear, you will start to see life’s opportunities. But, unfortunately, any step you take out of fear has little or no tendency to yield a good result. Remember, God’s promises are yea and amen through Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20).
The spirit of fear did not accompany the new life of Christ Jesus given to us. Instead, that which has been given to us is the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. When we are afraid, our minds become weak, and our hearts lose faith in God. Why not embrace the spirit that has been given to you? Fear fails; the spirit of fear makes you fail. The Bible says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Prayer:
1. Thank you for all the blessings you have given me and your word to strengthen my faith.
2. Lord, I pray that you grant me the strength to overcome my fears.
3. I pray that you grant me the strength to face the enemies who will try to stop me from doing what I want to do.
