“Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” Proverbs 22:29
Have you ever paused to consider the unique gifts and talents that lie within you? Each one of us possesses abilities that are not merely for personal gain but are meant to uplift and serve those around us. As we reflect on our strengths, let’s remember Luke 12:48, which says, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” In other words, our gifts come with a responsibility to empower others.
In the Bible, we find the story of Bezalel and Oholiab in Exodus 31:1-6. These two men were chosen by God to craft the Tabernacle, showcasing their extraordinary skills in artistry and craftsmanship. Their dedication to using their talents not only fulfilled a divine purpose but also served the community, bringing beauty and function to a sacred space. Just as they used their abilities for God’s glory, we too are called to recognize and nurture our gifts so they can become a legacy of harvest to others.
1 Timothy 4:14 says, “Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given to you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.”
“Every skill is a trust; therefore, use it well, for its true worth lies in service, not in storage.” In other words, our abilities are meant to be shared. When we embrace our talents and put them into action, we create opportunities to inspire and uplift those around us. Think about how your unique skills can meet the needs of your community or bring joy to someone’s life. The act of serving others not only brings fulfillment but also enriches our own lives.
Moreover, it’s important to recognize that “great ability calls for greater responsibility.” Our gifts shape more than just our individual stories; they have the potential to impact countless others. By investing time in developing our talents, we can create ripples of positivity that extend far beyond ourselves. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.” Amen.
