The Deliverer!
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2
When the disciples face trials and persecutions, it has been a norm for the unbelievers to make them a laughingstock, chastise them, and say many blaspheme words against them—forgetting that the one who has called us can never leave us to suffer unjustly. The delivered is our father, his love towards us becomes stronger when we cast our care upon him. He delights in using us as a show of His glory.
God delights in using us a living epistle from which unbelievers can read. This shed light as to why Paul was sharing his ordeal with the Corinthian church. In the middle verse of the devotion, he emphasized the subject of “not being ignorant of the trouble which came to them in Asia.” The persecution was so much that they desire that their life be taken away!
In 2nd Corinthians 1:9-10, Paul said, “Indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death and does deliver, in whom we trust that he shall deliver us.”
Amidst all this, the confidence and the level of trust in the father to be a DELIVERER kept them going forward. They had the understanding that if he can deliver those that were before them, then they are not an exception which He did. So, brethren, If God did deliver them, you can also trust Him for your deliverance.
Are you going through any obstacle or any challenge? Or in need of help? Take a look back on how God has delivered you from the past troubles even more severe than this present one. If not, take a survey on those who have obtained their deliverance and draw hope from them. I encourage you to draw strength from them and rededicate your life back to God. He is able! Daniel 3:17 says, “If the God whom we serve exists, then He can deliver us from the blazing fiery furnace and your hand, O king.”
Prayer:
1. Faithful and awesome God, I surrender my will to trust in your deliverance power
2. Psalm 32: 7; Lord, I pray for your divine interference over my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
