The Humble Mind!

The Humble Mind!

“Put on, therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering.” Colossians1:21.

Humbleness of mind is an excellent sign of a believer that is Christ minded. Humility means submission; it is not a form of groveling. As Christians, we need to have a humble mind, as displayed by our Lord Jesus Christ. Humbleness of the mind creates peace and unity with others. A high-minded and proud person does not express humility through the mind of Christ.

As Christians, we should learn to accept correction and remain lowly in our own eyes; we must seek to please God with our lives. We need to fear Him and keep His word. If we have the mind of Christ, we should be able to humble ourselves under the will of God and keep His commandments rather than trying to meet human demands and expectations. Humility does not mean that we are silent or inactive people; God also requires action and zeal in our lives. Jesus tells us that the kingdom of heaven is taken by force (Mathew 11:12).

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

If you want to go deeper in Christ as Christians, we need to be zealous in the things of God as well as have a humble mind. If we are humble in our mind, having a desire to do God’s will, then we will do whatever it takes to keep our hearts and minds pure. It is the desire of God for us to have a gentle and quiet spirit. When we are of a humble mind, we will be able to hear God’s Spirit speaking to our hearts throughout the day.

Humility is essential to progress and promotion in life. God resists the proud but gives more grace to the humble. When we humble ourselves in the sight of God, He will lift us (James 4:6-8, 10). There is a reward when we humble ourselves before God and the people around us. Though people might take it for granted or as weakness, God never takes it for granted. Proverbs 22:4 says, “The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches, honor, and life.”

Prayer:
1. Father Lord, help me to humble myself before you and other people in Jesus name.
2. Father, let the spirit of humility in Christ Jesus fill my heart in Jesus’ name.
