The Mind of Love! Part Two.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:44
Do you show love to all everyone around you? Is your heart filled with the Love of Christ? According to Romans 13 8, the answer should be a resounding yes! As believers, we are to “owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” We are called to love unconditionally, which means showing compassion and kindness to everyone, even those who may not deserve it. It can be difficult to do this, but remember that Christ loved His enemies. If He can do it, so can we!
A loving heart is a golden heart before God because God Himself is called love; remember, we loved because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). When we have the mind of love, we have the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is one of love. With that in mind, we can see things from Christ’s perspective and make decisions based on love rather than fear or selfishness. This way of thinking leads us to see others as God does – as beloved children worthy of our care and attention.
Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace, you have been saved.”
Brethren, our lives should show that we are true followers of Christ by walking in love like Christ has loved us by giving Himself for us as an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor. When Jesus Christ offered Himself for our sins, it was not just to portray Himself as the savior alone but also to show how great His love towards us was. When He was on the cross bleeding and weeping for the sins of humankind who were right there mocking Him, He asked God to forgive them, for they were ignorant of what they were doing (Luke 23:34).
Likewise, we should not profess love with our mouths alone but express love with our actions in giving and helping people to meet their needs and rescue them from challenging situations. A true disciple of Christ follows His mindset, and we are expected to have a mind of love for all if we are Christ-minded. I want you to know that Christ loves you more than you can imagine. No matter who you are or what terrible things you might have done in the past, He still loves you and is ready to save you if only you can believe in Him and give Him your heart. Amen. John 13:34 says, “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, you must also love one another.” Amen.
Prayer:
1. Psalm 143:8; Oh Lord, “let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you, I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you, I lift my soul.”
2. 1 Thessalonians 3:12; may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and all in Jesus’ name. Amen.
