The Mind of Unity and Peace!

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgment.” 1Corinthians1:10.

Unity and peace are two important ingredients in a sandwich for progress among the body of Christ. When there is unity, there will be peace. There is a blessing upon those that follow after peace and try as much as possible to keep the body of Christ (the church) in unity. The bible makes us understand that the meek shall inherit the earth and delight themselves in the abundance of peace (Psalm 37:11).

Jesus Christ, throughout His ministry, kept His disciples in unity and bond of peace, and we are also expected to live in peace and unity among brethren. Therefore, in His prayers for the disciples, we saw that He kept them together in peace and unity, and none of them was lost except the son of perdition that the scriptures might be fulfilled ( John 17:12). He went further to pray for their unity and the unity of those that will believe in Him through their words. (John17:12-21).

Romans 12:16 says, “Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”

We are not to serve as a stumbling block or elements of discourse to the body of Christ or our society. As much as possible, we should try to take the path of peace rather than war. Psalm 34:14 admonished us to depart from evil, be good, and seek peace. We are called as Christians to pray for the peace of our nation (Psalm 122:6). It is good and pleasant for brethren to dwell together in unity (Psalm 133:1). Great power lies in unity; millions of broomsticks standing singly will be useless to a littered room, but if you gathered a few hundred together as a bunch, you could make the room clean much as possible.

According to the scripture, one shall chase a thousand, and two shall chase ten thousand. Every gift or knowledge we have is not to show off or to oppress the brethren, and we should ensure that our gift brings edification and unity to the body of Christ. Without unity of mind, we cannot make any meaningful impact as individuals or groups. The mind of Christ is a mind that keeps the Spirit in the bond of peace. Jesus Christ makes us understand that Himself and God are one. As Christians, this mind should always be in us as it is in Christ Jesus. Always ensure you give your full support in the work of the ministry and every other activity that promote the kingdom of God. Amen. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” Amen.

2. Give me the wisdom to work in unity with the brethren. Amen.
