The Parable of the Sower! Part Two
“The seeds on rocky ground are those who hear the word and receive it joyfully, but they have no root. They believe for a season, but in the testing time, they fall away.” Luke 8:13.
Listen to what’s being said with care as the word is being said because the world around us speaks in a proverbial voice. So, as we continue on the parable of the Sower, today we look into the Seed on Rocky Ground Seed. This seed falls on rocky ground, with little soil and no moisture. As a result, it does not grow because there is nothing to nourish the feeble life. For this seed to grow, it needs deep soil that will hold moisture and nutrients.
The rocky ground represents people who hear the word of God but do not reflect on it or put it into practice. These individuals quickly forget what they have heard and do not allow the word to take root in their hearts. They may be superficially interested in spiritual things but are not committed to growing in their faith. The rocky ground seed also means avoiding the wish and wash attitude that will cause you to lose your seed. This means today you feel like, “I am turning a new leaf to change my life for the better, but tomorrow you feel like, “I don’t think it is necessary; after all, the world is full of evil things. So what? (Rocky ground).
James 1:6 says, “When you ask for something, don’t have any doubts. A person with doubts is like a wave blown by the wind and tossed by the sea.”
The seed in you want to grow, but it needs you to prepare the right place to stand, not the heart of stone. Remember, for the seed to become productive and fruitful, you must be willing to let go of the desire that will not make it appropriately rooted in the soil, or else the wind will easily uproot it. When you allow your wrongful desires to take over, you will lose sight of God’s word in your heart and fall into temptation because you don’t trust the growth process of the seed. So don’t be too soft on the temptation that will make you fall into sin; instead, resist or stay away from the temptation that will tempt you to give up.
Do not let your perspective of the current condition kill your dream and aspirations because they are a trap. If you want your dreams to become a reality, you must reposition your mind to see them as opportunities for growth. Don’t let your thoughts, condition, and past control the growth that God desires for you. Instead, increase your faith in God that you can achieve anything you set your mind to do. A person who believes in God will never doubt his abilities or capabilities. Amen. “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22
Prayer:
1. Spirit of the living God, breathe upon my seed and renew my thirst again for you.
2. Oh Lord, help me grow spiritually this year in Jesus’ name.
3. Holy Spirit, help me resist every spirit of doubt and unbelief in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
