“The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22
The Bible makes it clear that wealth is not the most important thing in life. However, the Bible does teach that God wants His people to be blessed financially. He has given us the power to get wealth as a way to bless us and advance His kingdom. However, we must be careful to steward our wealth in a way that honors Him and aligns with His plans and purposes.
So start thinking beyond your selfish gain because one of the most important things to remember about wealth is that it is not an end unto itself. Wealth is a tool that can be used to do good things and to help others. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, said, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7). In other words, wealth can be used to control and manipulate others. It can also be used to help those who are in need.
Proverbs 22:9 says, “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.”
See how the message Bible interpreted the mid-verse passage, “If you want to be rich, you’ll need to be generous.” In other words, God wants us to use our wealth to help others. He says, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command” (John 15:13-14). We are to use our wealth to bless others and to help further God’s kingdom. The Bible is clear that God wants us to be prosperous. He wants us to be blessed financially, so that we can use our wealth to help others. He has given us the power to get wealth as a way to bless us and advance His kingdom.
1 Samuel 2:7 speaks about the blessing of the LORD. The Lord blesses us with riches and adds no sorrow to it. In other words, the Lord blesses us abundantly, and we do not have to worry about experiencing any sorrow. Through God’s words, there are reassuring and comforting. It reminds us that the Lord is always with us and will never leave us. The Lord will bless us with all that we need and more. We can be thankful for all the Lord has done for us. Matthew 6:19 says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
Prayer:
1. From Deuteronomy 28:13, I prayed, May the Lord make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not beneath.
2. You and your children shall be blessed in all you do in Jesus’ name. Amen.
