The Rewards of Letting Go!

“Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26:39

Surrendering to God’s will is the ultimate act of faith, and Jesus’ example sets the perfect standard for us all. Luke 22:42 is a powerful reminder that even though we may feel like we are in control, the truth is that life can get messy and complicated. Jesus, facing his death, prayed to God and said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” This prayer exemplifies how Jesus himself was able to surrender his will and trust in God’s power.

As humans, we often struggle with letting go of control. We want things to go our way and can become frustrated when they don’t. However, if we look to Jesus as an example of surrendering control to God’s plan, perhaps it will also become easier for us. Relinquishing our hold on what we think should happen and accepting what actually happens can lead us toward greater fulfillment. Remember. Philippians 2:13, it is written that God works in us to will and act according to His good purpose.

Ephesians 1:5 says, “God predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will.”

When we surrender ourselves to God’s will, we allow Him to take control of our lives and guide us toward the path He has set for us. However, many of us hold onto certain things that disrupt God’s will in our lives, such as pride, fear, or even material possessions. Therefore, we must examine ourselves and ask, “What am I holding onto that disrupts God’s will in my life?” Often, we find ourselves holding onto things that are causing us pain or distress. It could be a broken relationship or a failed project at work. Whatever it may be, don’t allow your instinct to cling to these things with all your might; instead, let go and let God.

Remember, the act of surrender is like a river flowing into the sea. Just as the river eventually reaches its destination, so too does the act of surrendering to God’s will carry us to a place of acceptance, favor, testimonies, fulfillment, joy, and peace in Jesus’ name. Amen. So now, I encourage you to let go and surrender yourself entirely to God’s plan for your life because Jesus has shown us the ultimate example of surrender when He willingly laid down His life for humanity on the cross. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For our sake, he made him be sin who knew no sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Amen.

Prayer:
Isaiah 50:5 – Oh Lord GOD, opened my ears so that I will not be rebellious, nor turned back against your will in Jesus’ name. Amen.
