“Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.” Luke 23:56
“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10. This verse invites us into a sacred space of stillness, where we can pause and reflect on the promises God has made to us. The Sabbath serves as a divine invitation to rest, reminding us that God is actively working behind the scenes in our moments of quietness. During these times of reflection, we can truly appreciate the beauty of His timing and the depth of His love.
In Luke 23:56, we see how the women who followed Jesus observed the Sabbath after His crucifixion, resting in faith despite their grief and uncertainty. Their waiting was not in vain; it was a precursor to the glorious resurrection. This story illustrates that God’s promises are at work even in the darkest moments, preparing us for a new dawn. We may not always understand the season of waiting, but it is crucial to trust that God is orchestrating every detail for our good.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
As we embrace the Sabbath, let us remember that our rest is not merely a pause but an essential part of our spiritual journey. Remember, “In Stillness, His Promises Bloom,” and that’s how we experience the transformative power of waiting on God. It is in these quiet moments that we cultivate hope and strength, allowing His promises to take root within us. This time of renewal equips us to face the challenges ahead with confidence, knowing that God’s plans for us are filled with hope and purpose (Jeremiah 29:11).
Moreover, the act of resting reminds us to release our burdens into His capable hands. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are weary, promising us rest for our souls. When we surrender our anxieties and expectations during the Sabbath, we create space for God’s peace to envelop us. This peace reassures us that while we may be waiting, we are never alone; God walks with us every step of the way. Lamentations 3:25 says, “The Lord is good to those waiting for him and the soul seeking him.”
