The Shadow of the Past! 2
“The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:5
The Lord is faithful to His Word, and He knows what it means to be joyful. So, don’t let the darkness consume you. Don’t let the shadows of the past cloud your vision. Keep moving forward with faith that God will turn everything around for your good; He will turn every curse into a blessing. Our God is awesome to lighten our burdens and bring us back to glory.
A lot has happened this year, which many of us did not bargain for, but thanks be to God, we are not consumed. There have been pandemics, floods, tragic fires, and droughts all around the world, but God’s grace and mercy have always been available to us. Many lives have been caught up in many tragic events, but God still helps you through many darkest moments because the Light of God has shone through you. Jeremiah said,
“Yet I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness!” Lamentations 3:21-23.
If God’s mercy has kept you through these dark times, then it’s time to walk in the Light. We are called to walk in the Light of God, which is holiness, truth, righteousness, justice, goodness, and mercy, contrasting with the darkness. We are called to walk in faithfulness, liberty, hope, love, and stand up against the evil that surrounds us, to rise above our sin, and to be transformed by renewing our mind in Christ Jesus.
It was out of the darkness that its pleased God to call forth Light. And the glory of darkness fades because of the latter glory of Light that was Greater. Don’t allow your past to impress you with its darkness; instead, allow yourself to experience the Light of God’s presence. Now, God is calling you forth into the Light, so that He can shine through you in all your way of life. Embrace the Light so that you can inhale the breath of freedom in Jesus’ name. Amen. Matthew 5:14 says, “You are the Light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Prayer:
1. Father, I thank you for my salvation by faith.
2. I am thankful for your grace and mercy towards me because, by your power, I am not consumed.
3. Isaiah 33:2; O LORD, be gracious to me as I wait for You. Be my strength every day and my salvation in times of trouble in Jesus’ name. Amen.
