The Ultimate Search!
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.” Psalms 139:23
There is a famous game known as ‘ultimate search,’ where a particular thing would be inconspicuously hidden, and the player is meant to search it out. Similarly, the heart of a man is filled with a lot of hidden thoughts. The heart is the center of actions, ‘for as people think in their heart, so they are,’ and ‘out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.’
It is, therefore, evident that the heart writes the script of humanity’s action. David was described as a man after God’s own heart, definitely because his heart was continually given to God’s ultimate search. The rejection of David’s brother and David’s appointment as the King of Israel was a matter of the heart. God’s dealing with people has to do with people’s hearts.
Proverbs 26:24 says, “People disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts, they harbor deceit.”
God looks at the heart and not countenance. The heart houses our intentions and motives, and that is what God considers before He uses, blesses, elevates, or promotes humanity. He looks inwardly into the heart and conducts an ultimate search whether such heart is not selfish, self-centered, or self-seeking. You cannot receive from God beyond what your heart qualifies you for.
Brethren, why don’t you cry to God as David did? That He may conduct that ultimate search on you and remove the inconspicuous and hidden faults and limitations in your heart. The Ultimate Search is for truth, knowledge, and the only way to know what you have is through your heart. Psalm 51:17 says, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
1. Lord Jesus, search my heart and remove everything contrary to your will in my life.
2. Psalm 19:12 says, who can discern their errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults in Jesus’ name.
