Time is a Treasure; Spend It Wisely!

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

In a world bustling with distractions, it’s essential to remember that time is our most precious resource. Each moment is a gift, a fleeting opportunity to connect with what truly matters. As the famous motivational speaker John C. Maxwell once said, “Time management is life management.” In other words, how we prioritize our time reflects our values and aspirations.

Reflecting on the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42, we see two sisters with contrasting approaches to time. While Martha busied herself with tasks, Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet, soaking in His words. Jesus gently reminded Martha that Mary had chosen the better part, the one that would not be taken away from her. In other words, we must evaluate how we spend our time and ensure that we carve out moments for spiritual growth amidst our daily responsibilities.

Ephesians 5:15-16 says, “Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

As you consider your own life, ask yourself: How do you prioritize your time for God versus other activities? This week, take practical steps to balance your schedule. Consider dedicating specific times for prayer or reflection, and limit distractions during these moments. Remember the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” By nurturing your relationship with God, you cultivate a friendship that enriches your spirit and guides your actions.

To uplift your heart and guide your journey, turn to the comforting verses of Psalm 90:12: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Let this wisdom inspire you to invest your time in meaningful pursuits that align with your faith and purpose. So, manage your time wisely, and lean on God. John 9:4 says, “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.”

Prayer for the Day!

As we thank God for the gift of time and the opportunities it brings. I pray for you, dear friend, may the Lord grant you the wisdom to manage your time and days thoughtfully and the strength to pursue what truly matters. May He guide your steps with purpose, fill your heart with peace, and bless your efforts with fruitfulness. As you journey through each day, may you find joy in the present, hope for tomorrow, and grace in every challenge. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
