Waiting Upon the Lord!

“Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.” Psalm 27:14

Waiting upon the Lord goes beyond praying and expecting the answer to your prayers. It is a deliberate action and activity aimed at drawing God’s attention to the present situation or matter at hand. It involves seeking the face and mind of God over an issue for instruction and direction.

Waiting upon the Lord requires patience, persistence, consecration, and a high level of sensitivity. Let us look at the prayer of Habakkuk:

“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth, for the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

We can see that that Habakkuk’s sense organs were fully at alert, watching, and very attentive to details with unlimited patience. You cannot be in haste in the place of waiting upon the Lord; neither should you be distracted. To wait upon the Lord means critically investigating a matter and seeking light and clarity in matters that look confusing.

The Lord does not want us to rush through things without any thought or fully experiencing it. Either in marriage, in business, or anything in life, you must have faith in him. He is faithful to his word and always trusts him with all your heart. He will never leave you alone. He will never leave you in doubt about what lies ahead of you, but yet you need to be patient and keep trusting him. Psalm 130:5 says, “I wait for the LORD; my soul does wait, and in His Word, I put my hope.”

Dear Lord, please help me to trust in you and you alone in Jesus’ name.
