What Makes God Smile? 3
“Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, and I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding that I may obey Your law, and follow it with all my heart.” Psalm 119:33-34
In today’s bible verse, David was asking God for guidance on how to live a life of obedience. He asked God to tell him what to do, that he will do it. David said as long as God commands it, He will wholeheartedly obey. Indeed, David did obey God’s commands with enthusiasm because he knew that obedience has a higher reward than sacrifice. No wonder God called him “a man after my own heart.”
Acts 13:22 says, “After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do EVERYTHING I want him to do.”
Obedience is rewarding only when it is total. You don’t please God by believing Him partially; you must obey wholeheartedly to become blessed. If you stop at the believing level in your faith in God, your life will produce unfriendly results that will be far from bringing glory to God and comfort to you. And as God’s child, make up your mind to bring pleasure to your Heavenly Father through obedience to His will.
Any act of obedience is also an act of submission to God without justified by reason. Obedience makes you become sufficiently sanctified and heavenly father to be Glorified. In other words, God smiles at your obedience when others will see “your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). It is more pleasing to the Lord to see you testifying about the goodness of God than seeing you in a state of distress or suffering. God smiles when we obey without trying to question Him.
Will you obey Him? I’m sure you said yes. Obey, and stay blessed. I encourage you to tune your ear to God’s voice. Let His word motivates and inspires you to do great things in every way possible with all your heart. Jeremiah 7:23 says, “But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.”
Prayer:
1. Father, I thank you for your word,
2. Holy Spirit, help me to act according to God’s desire in Jesus name. Amen.
