What Makes God Smile? 6
“Blessed are those who have made the LORD their trust, who has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood!” Psalm 40:4.
Do you trust God with everything in your life? Do you trust him with your health, finances, business, family, little things, the big stuff, or everything? I do understand that some people do trust God for the little things but not the big thing, while others are vice versa or even worse. One of the prominent parts of a relationship with God is faith and trust, especially when we find it difficult to trust him.
Peter is such an example of how trust can be a blessing and a powerful tool in our lives. Peter was a professional fisherman before he becomes a Christian and the disciple of Jesus. He has all the strategies of a good fisherman, the knowledge of the sea, and the necessary tools to get his fishing done. One day the Bible said Simon (Peter) went out for fishing all night but caught nothing. The rest of the fishermen has gotten tired because they have not been able to catch anything. (Luke 5:1-11)
While other fishermen were washing their net and boat, Peter allowed Jesus into the boat for preaching and took them a little off the shore. When Jesus had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” (Luke 5:4). Remember, they were very close to the shore when Jesus said, put your net into the water. In other words, there were no chances to catch anything, and if there were a chance of catching something, that would probably be some kind of fish called fingerling (baby fish).
Luke 5:5-6 says, Peter (Simon) replied, “Master, we have worked hard all night without catching anything. Nevertheless, at YOUR WORD, I WILL LET DOWN THE NET.” When they had done so, they caught much such fish that their nets began to tear.”
If Peter can trust God and do what He has told him to do, then you are not exempted from trusting in Jesus Christ. If you can allow Jesus into your boat (life situation or circumstances) and trust Him with EVERYTHING that is going on in your life, then you are not exempted from the supernatural of God. He will give you the assurance to move forward in life. Give him a chance and let Him smile with you. Proverbs 16:20 says, “Whoever heeds instruction will find success and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.”
Prayer:
1. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for giving me this opportunity to learn and trust God.
2. Oh Lord, give me the confidence to trust in your Word that I will be able to do what you have asked me in Jesus’ name.
