What Makes God Smile? 7
“The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.” 2 Samuel 6:11
Obed-Edom has unique flaws in his life, like the cracked pots. I know you might ask me what the flaws are; He is a Foreigner – He is from Edomite, from the City of Gath known to be an enemy of Israel, especially to David; His name Obed-Edom- Means “Edom Worshiper”; Started his life as a nobody, in other words, he is a slave in Israel… if I should call a spade a spade, He was broke, means a poor man with 8 Children; People labeled him as a useless man in the City and called him a different name; therefore, He is next to die.
2nd Samuel 6:9-12 says, “David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, “How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?” He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household. Now King David was told, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom, and everything he has, because of the ark of God.
I do not know who you are, where you come from, what Kind of Life you have lived before; I do not know how you came to where you are right now; I do not know the kind of flaws in your life that make people laugh at you or write you off; I do not know the sort of name people have labeled you. If only you can allow God in your heart, in your home, and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior. He will turn every of your Disgrace to Grace and every mess to message.
Suppose you can worship God and allow Him to take advantage of your flaws so that through you, people can see how the porter makes use of every clay in his hand. Because of Obed-Edom, the entire nation changes its mindset towards God. Likewise, people will say because of your worship and faithfulness toward Jehovah Mighty, and they are blessed. I am a living witness to the testimony of true worship. Laban learned that because of Jacob, his household was blessed. “But Laban replied, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.” Genesis 30:27
