Winning in Life!
“I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?” Psalm 121:1
Knowing where you can reach out for help is one of the best ways towards winning in life. For example, the apps on our phones have the option of “help and support” to answer our questions and help us when the app starts misbehaving. Likewise, if an app can direct us to the app’s creator to solve our issues, we should know that we ought to turn to our creator when life gets hard.
The Israelites were faced with not just one battle but three battles. Three strong nations were up against them, and they were terrified. Who would not be terrified in that situation anyway? King Jehoshaphat was confused but refused to give up. He turned to God for help because he knew human strength could not win the battle.
“O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” 2 Chronicles 20:12
Life battles are like that sometimes. Life can get so overwhelming and exhausting. We might feel like giving up or just following the multitudes to do evil because the good we have been doing has seemed not to bring gain. When it gets to that point, the right and the only way to go is to turn to God for help and support. God will always be there for us no matter what.
God has never failed anyone before, and He will not start now. Look at how the story of the battles the Israelites were facing ended. The three nations fought and killed themselves, with the Israelites not doing anything other than praising God. First, you have to know the enemy you are fighting and admit to God that you cannot fight on your own. God will step on at that point and help you out. Psalm 121:2 says, “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Prayer:
1. Lord, I need your help; please help me.
2. Oh Lord, give the heart to know that you are my helper at all times in Jesus’ name.
