“I am the vine; ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5
In a world where individualism and self-reliance often take center stage, it is important to remember that, as human beings, we are nothing without God. This truth is beautifully encapsulated in Genesis 1:27, emphasizing that our existence and identity come from a divine source. When we reflect on the message of Genesis 1:27, we can gain a deeper appreciation for our purpose and worth. As humans made in the very image of God, we possess inherent dignity and value beyond measure. We are not here by chance or coincidence but have been intentionally designed by the Creator Himself.
God never created humankind to function without Him. This truth can be traced back to creation when God made man and kept him in His presence. Everything that God created was never without an atmosphere or environment. He made water for fish, soil for the plant, and His presence for man. When you separate any of these things from its atmosphere, it malfunctions and dies. If you separate a fish from the water, it malfunctions and dies; when you remove a plant from the soil, it malfunctions and dies; if a man is separated from God, he malfunctions and dies. This death may not necessarily be physical, but separation from God results in spiritual death.
John 5:30 says, “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.”
Therefore, we need God; He is our source of life; we cannot survive without Him. God wants us to be fruitful and has revealed all we need to do to enjoy an abundant life. We need to stay connected with Him (the true vine) to remain fruitful and successful. If the branch of a tree is separated from its source, the branch dies, and the leaves begin to wither. “Without God, nothing is possible; with God, anything is achievable.”
As believers, we must abide continually in Christ and put away every form of sin. Our God is holy and cannot behold sin; no wonder He said in Isaiah 59:2, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, that He will not hear.” Sin separates man from God; Adam had a memorable time with God until Satan used his wife to lure him to sin against God. Up till today, humanity is still suffering from their sins. We all must abide in Christ, as sin can ruin our lives and the generations after us. Amen. Psalm 36:9 says, “For with God is the fountain of life; in His light do we see light.” Amen
Prayer:
Oh Lord, Help me to abide in you continually. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
