Yet Another Rest! 2

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

I have seen people on great vacation mode who took off time to rest and enjoy themselves. But I am always surprised at how some people would complain that they were tired when they returned from the trip, especially someone like me. However, when we considered the rest that Jesus grants humankind’s generation, the rest is for yesterday, today, and forever.

Meanwhile, in our story of the older man from yesterday’s devotion who offered a good rest to the young man but told him there is another rest. He meant that the journey they are embarking on after that is not for the young man to continue his labor but rather to be with him and learn. He wants the young man to take over his house and inherit everything he has because he knows what the young man needs.

Matthew 11:29 Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

Likewise, Jesus knows what you and I need to have a healthy body and mind. So we can rest and enjoy life in abundance. There is a usual saying that no one can give what he does not have. Let us consider the words of our Lord Jesus Christ when He said ‘and I will give you rest.’ He has the rest to give. He is our rest.

You don’t have to go ahead in life, ignoring Jesus and not giving him a chance to take care of you. He has an assured rest for all your endeavors around you, but you need to trust him and learn from him. There is yet another rest for your home, family, marriage, business, contract, work, project, and all life endeavors. There is yet another rest with Jesus where you live with Him glorified after He comes again. Do yourself well today by embracing his rest. There is yet another rest for you. In Exodus 33:14, God said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

1. Psalm 3:5. Thank you, Jesus, for “I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.”
2. Lord, I embrace your rest for me now and forever
