The Unchanging God. He is Reliable and Dependable.
“For Jesus doesn’t change — yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself.” Hebrew 13:8
The ancient Philosophers names Heraclitus once said, “Man cannot step into the same river twice.” Why? Because, as water flows, changes will occur, and the molecule or particles of the river will change. Likewise, in life, we must be aware that human beings are constantly changing. Our bodies change, our minds change, and so do the things we think or do. Isaiah 40:8 speak about other natures saying, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”
One of the constant things in life is change, and that change comes the most time with evidence that the change has occurred. Some changes don’t manifest in the immediate, but that’s a long while to come to the visibility. Whatsoever the change may be, humans are used to seeing the change and with every change come with the challenges of adaptation and alignment to enhance survival and instinct, and another human physique comes into play to help with the newness that is being a witness.
However, there is a God who has nothing to change. Nothing about God can change, yes, nothing about Him. His words are forever settled both in heaven and on earth. His life is eternal; he doesn’t grow old or grow young, that’s out of our understanding right. His goodness that we witness now is the same as the once that the fathers of faith described in the bible. Nothing is changing in God, not in His relationship with a man or with His relation with the universe at large. His dwelling place never changes for fear of human getting to discover it (like a terrorist running from one place to another, no, never!).
God doesn’t have to change because changes make things different. Hence, because God doesn’t change, it encourages me to face each new day that His goodness and faithfulness that I enjoyed the day before is still very much at play in the same capacity. When we tend to see something new in God, it is not because of God change in dealing with us, but rather, we became more exposed to that side of God, and hence we found something new and different from whatever we have ever known. Today, never think God has changed, but know and believe that He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
1. I am thankful for your presence in my life.
2. Thanks, Lord for remaining the same; I press into you more to find the new things and new insights I never heard before.
3. The unchangeable Changer God, come and change what man has tagged as impossibility… (whatever it is, just name it and believe God for Miracle. Amen)
4. I love you, Lord.
