Are Your Motives Pure? Check Your Intentions! Part Two

“Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires.” Romans 6:12

How do you know if your motives are pure? The Bible says in 1 John 3:12, “We should not be like Cain, who acted with malice and killed his brother.” Cain is a biblical figure known for the first murder. After God rejected Cain’s offering, Cain became angry and killed his brother Abel. When God asked Cain where Abel was, Cain replied, “I don’t know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” We can learn from Cain’s story that if our motives are not pure, our actions will reveal our intentions.

We will act out of anger and bitterness rather than love and compassion when our goals have not been met. God wants us to have pure motives because He knows that this is the only way we can truly be happy. When we do things for the wrong reasons, we may achieve our goals, but we will never be satisfied. Therefore, let God’s will be the structure on which your intentions are built. This will not just rain blessings on you but also give you peace. When you have good intentions, it will bring peace and great joy.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by renewing your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is good, pleasing, and perfect will of God is.”

When we have pure motives, we will be happier and more fulfilled. We will also be more effective in serving God than what people will say or think about us. So, apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:10, saying, “Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” In other words, we can please God when we have pure motives. This is because our actions will align with his will, and we will live out our faith in a way honoring him. So therefore, brethren, our ultimate goal should be to glorify God, and we can do this by having pure motives in all that we do.

When we pray and make requests of God, we should do so with a pure heart, free from ulterior motives or self-seeking desires. As we seek to do God’s will in our lives, we can be confident that He will bless our efforts. His ways are always best, and when we seek to follow Him, we can be assured that we will be on the right path. Let us pray for guidance and the strength to do God’s will, regardless of the obstacles we may face. May we be diligently seeking Him and humble enough to submit to His direction. Amen. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

Prayer:
1. Thank you, Lord, for leading me on the path of righteousness.
2. 2 Corinthians 10:5; In the name of Jesus, I Cast down every evil imagination, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God in my life, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Amen.
