Discovering God’s Promises!

Discovering God’s Promise in Scripture

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a worker that does not need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

In the Bible, God makes promises that extend beyond our physical lives and into the eternal. As Christians, we can take comfort in the fact that He will never make a promise He cannot keep. But discovering God’s promises in scripture requires time and effort. However, God is pleased with humankind that is submissive to His word. In God’s word, we find His will and guidance in life. Apart from these, God speaks to us per time through His word, which can only be made available to those who are devoted and diligent in seeking God via His written word.

God delights in every servant who understands the word and can divinely interpret every content written in it. But unfortunately, in our generation, we find many who speak as motivators or inspirational speakers using a particular part of the scripture to defend their intent. These sets of people usually gather people specifically for what they want people to know or hear from them and not what God has for the people. And sometimes, some individuals are so selective about the people they listen to: they look to people who have what they want to hear.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”

In such a situation, we separate and receive words that only seem comforting to us from the truth and core things God wants to give us. This also happens while we read the word of God. Therefore, in our endeavor to divide and receive understanding from God’s Word, we must be devoted to it, be spiritual, and do away with any form of argument in God’s word. Every unnecessary argument wastes time and energy, hurting our spiritual life and other believers. So, give yourself to the word, and study it to ensure that you offer the right message to others. This will also help you discern the right message when you hear them.

Remember, God’s Word is full of passages that point to His faithfulness and protection for those who follow Him with all their heart without partiality. Therefore, it’s important as believers to look for these promises; they remind us that we have nothing to fear but instead can trust confidently in His love, mercy, and grace. By studying verse by verse in context, we can come away with greater insight into how God works and what His expectations are for us as His children. Amen. 2 Peter 1:10 says, “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things, you will never stumble.”

Prayer;
Jesus, I believe you are the word; help me to love your word so that I may devote myself and receive the truth in your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
