From Sinner to Saint: Holiness Change My Life! Part Two

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17

Too often, we think of holiness as a quality we either have or don’t. But holiness isn’t a static state; it’s something we grow into as the journey of life progress. And as we grow in holiness, we grow in intimacy with God and build spiritual strength and stability. A holy life pleases God and produces good fruit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).

A young man shared a testimony with me that fourteen years ago, He was living a life of sin. He said he was selfish and cruel and thought only of himself. He drank, smoked, and partied all the time. His parents had given up on him, and his friends were also starting to distance themselves. He said, “It was only a matter of time before I hit rock bottom when I was admitted into the hospital and couldn’t move. But then something amazing happened. A nurse recommended that I read the Bible, which changed my life. Suddenly, I saw the error of my ways and decided to turn over a new leaf.

Ephesians 4:22 says, “Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception; to be renewed in the spirit of your minds.”

His lost family and friends have returned to celebrate with him the new life he has found in Christ. They are now happy for him and want to share their joy with others in the same way. This is what we call grace-giving God’s love to those who believe in Jesus Christ. Holiness is part of God’s love for us in the heart of God. It is not about having all things right; rather, it helps you to grow closer to God, develop self-control, and become more patient and humbler. Additionally, it allows us to better love and serve others and to experience the joy of living in God’s will.

If you are not currently living a Holy life, I encourage you to consider doing so. Living a holy life takes effort, but it’s worth it. It brings peace and joy and a closeness to God that can’t be found any other way. One who is holy dwells in the presence of God and finds great joy in doing his will. Those who are holy are also protected from the schemes of the devil. Though the path to holiness is not always easy, the Bible promises that those who pursue it will be greatly rewarded. Amen. Psalm 96:9 says, “Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!”

Prayer:
John 17:17, Oh Lord, sanctify me with your word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
