God Gives Increase!
“I planted the seed, and Apollos watered it, but God gave the increase.”1 Corinthians 3:6
This is another aspect of God’s increase. In today’s verse, Paul wrote, “I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” There are two main elements to be observed here; the first is the God factor, and the second is the human factor. These two factors have important principles that believers should understand.
Undoubtedly, it is God’s absolute desire that He increases us at every side, but He will only increase what we formed in unity. If there is nothing that we have formed, there is nothing for God to fill. So until we plant and water like Paul and Apollos, there is nothing for God to decide whether to increase or decrease.
1 Corinthians 3:7 says, “So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.”
Spiritual cultivation and growth depend on God’s infinite supply of love, grace, and mercy. The vitality of the growth that God provides for us depends upon our preparation and ability to receive this nourishment from him. That is why when we are in a state of spiritual growth, our hearts must become more open and receptive to the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Paul and Apollos applied the Fruit of the Spirit as they were sowing and watering the church for growth. They never let anything corrupt their minds, such as whom they thought was good or whom they believed to be good. Instead, they always kept their eyes on the Lord and His word, which gives them the desired growth. What about you? How do you deal with growth with your spouse, family, or business partner? Psalm 50:2 says, “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.”
1. Lord, help me to trust and have absolute faith in you.
2. Psalm 90:17 “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands–yes, establish the work of our hands!” in Jesus name. Amen!
