God is Always Speaking to Us! Part Three
“For whoever has will be given more. But whoever does not have, even what he has, will be taken away from him.” Mark 4:25
An old Latin Proverb says, “Quidquid recipitur ad modum recipientis recipitur. This famous quote is attributed to our ability to receive information, which means, “Whatever is received is received according to the nature of the recipient.” In other words, we receive things based on our nature and how we can perceive them. This is why two people can have different experiences of the same event – it may be because they pay attention differently or because each one treasure and appreciates it differently.
Remember that our attention serves as a filter that affects how we process information. In Mark 4, when Jesus was teaching people about the parable of light, He said some prophetic words in verses 23-25, saying, “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even their little understanding will be taken away from them.”
Luke 8:18 says, “Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has, will be taken away from him.”
From Mark 4:25, we see that Jesus instructed us to pay attention to God’s word because the more we devote or treasure when we hear it, the more revelation will be given. Therefore, the passage calls for believers to be attentive to the word of God because God still speaks through the holy spirit and our hearts. Remember, those who do not care about listening and reading will not understand and will be cut off from the truth, and those who don’t understand the truth are destroyed by it. So may you not be a victim of lack of truth in Jesus’ name. Amen. (John 8:32).
Brethren, when one treasures the prophetic word of God, one will receive more revelation from Him. This is because when we value something, we are more likely to pay attention to it and learn from it. The Bible is a treasure trove of wisdom and insight; by valuing it, we can learn more about God and His will for our lives. Remember, revelation will come in various forms, such as through dreams, visions, reading, or listening. However, the more you treasure the prophetic word, the more likely you will receive fresh revelation from God. Amen. Proverbs 2:4-5 says, “If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” Amen.
Prayer:
Oh Lord, help me to treasure your word daily in my heart in Jesus’ name. Amen.
