He gained the Nickname “Dullard” Due to His Dullness!

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

In a world where labels and identities are often thrust upon us, we must be mindful of the names we are given. I read a story about a young boy who was consistently underperforming in school and had gained the nickname “dullard” due to his dullness. However, his parents decided to get him a computer with interactive programs. As time passed, his teachers noticed a significant improvement in his academic performance and decided to inquire about the change. The boy explained that he now had a computer at home that referred to him as intelligent.

Can you believe it? In school, he was constantly labeled as a dullard and stupid, which limited his abilities. But when he started embracing a more positive identity, his performance soared. This story teaches us that sometimes we must reject the labels and names others give us to succeed in life. After all, what we are called can greatly impact who we become. Let us remember the encouraging words from Isaiah 9:6, consider the power of our names, and prophesy about Jesus’s future.

Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

Brethren, be careful about how others address us and pay attention to the power of names in shaping our identity. Remember, the words spoken over us can shape our perception of ourselves and ultimately influence the paths we choose. Therefore, don’t allow society attempts to categorize you with evil labels based on your lifestyle, status, or even outward appearance. But it is crucial to remember that our true worth lies in being children of God. We are not defined by what others call us but rather by who we are through Jesus Christ.

Remember what Jesus calls you, and remember His unconditional love and acceptance. He calls us beloved, chosen, and redeemed. These names reflect His deep affection for each one of us as individuals. No matter what others may call us or how society labels us, these divine names spoken by Jesus hold greater weight and truth. We must be cautious about allowing negative labels or hurtful words to define who we are. Our worth is not determined by what people call us but by Jesus’ declaration of our lives. Amen. Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Amen.

Prayer:
1. Lord, rescue me from any negative title or identification. Remove all the disgrace that the adversary has associated with me.
2. (Luke 21:15) May the Lord give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
3. May the Lord bring about a change in you, shifting you from being uninteresting to becoming vibrant and energetic in Jesus’ name. Amen.
