“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” 1 John 5:3
Another important aspect of honoring God is obedience. As Christians, we are called to honor God not just in our words or intentions but also in our actions. Obeying God is also a crucial element of showing reverence to Him. Jesus himself said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commands.” This statement highlights that honoring God involves living according to his will and ways. Obedience to God’s commands can be challenging at times, especially when it goes against what society deems acceptable or desirable.
However, as believers, we must remember that our ultimate allegiance should be toward pleasing God above anyone else. In doing so, we demonstrate our love for him and acknowledge his sovereignty over our lives. Honoring God through obedience is not just a one-time event but a continuous process throughout our lives. It requires us to constantly evaluate our thoughts and actions and align them with God’s word. It means making choices that align with His word and recognizing Him as the source of all good things in our lives.
Deuteronomy 28:1 says, “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.”
See an example of people who received God’s word, ‘…when you received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe (1Thessalonians 2:13). They received what was taught by Paul, Silas, and Timothy as God’s word indeed, and it worked in their lives. Therefore, we must repent in how we handle God’s word if we will see its fruit in our lives.
The scriptures and their assertions must be given a first-place above sciences, philosophies of men, ideas, experiences, and hearsay. It transcends all of that. Hear what Peter sums it up ‘For all flesh is as grass and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away: But the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you (1 Peter 1:24-25). Therefore, making Him a priority in your life means carving out time each day for prayer, meditation, and reflection on His word. Amen. Job 36:11 says, “If they listen and serve him, they complete their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness.” Amen.
Prayer:
1. Holy Spirit, help me to be obedient to God’s way and His Will in my life.
2. Every spirit of disobedience in me and around me, denying me of my breakthrough, I say Holy Ghost fire consume them in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Amen
