“No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing, but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15
As Christians, we often discuss the importance of our identity in Christ. But what does it mean to embrace that identity? It’s not just a matter of accepting who we are today; it’s also a matter of understanding and embracing the potential for growth that comes with being part of God’s kingdom. The Bible clarifies that children’s identity in the kingdom of God is determined not by their age but by what they believe and do. This means that no matter how young or old we may be when we accept Jesus into our hearts, He gives us new life and fills us with His spirit.
With this new life in Christ comes an opportunity to live differently – to become more like Him and less like our former selves. There was this story of a slave boy; Who asked a favor from his master not to call him a slave or servant anytime they stepped out for any occasion. The master agrees to call him his son, but with the condition that he has to behave like a son. Whenever they go out, the master will address him as a son and encourage him to dress well and look like a prince. However, one day, he went out with his master on a special occasion.
Revelation 21:7 says, “Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.”
The master introduced the servant to the noble, top-class people as his lovely son. Because of this introduction, everybody wants to be around and favor him. Unfortunately, because of his slave nature, he begins to act up to the extent that people find him eating leftover food from the garbage area. When they call for the master, saying that they saw his son eating leftovers from the garbage, the master replies, that is not my son; he is one of my slaves. Likewise, most people wanted to be recognized as a child of God but failed to follow the rules and regulations of our heavenly father.
Though we believe we are a child of God, we must avoid the garbage of SIN that enslaves us. We must wear a new outfit that gives us a renewed sense that our temple is the body of the holy spirit. Revelations 21:7-8 (Paraphrase) said that the one who overcomes sinful nature would be the children of God. Therefore, let go of past behavior and former sin. 1 Peter 1:14 Says, “As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance.” Amen.
Prayer:
1. Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your love and mercy towards me.
2. Any power or principalities that want to separate me from the love of God let their plan be scattered In the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
