Seeking Counsel and Affirmation from Others!

“For lack of guidance, a nation falls, but with many counselors comes deliverance.” Proverbs 11:14

Collaboration births innovation as streams find strength in joining forces to become rivers. In our journey of discovering our gifts and passions, seeking counsel and affirmation from others plays a crucial role. Sometimes, we can be blind to our abilities or struggle with self-doubt. This is where the wisdom and insight of trusted mentors, friends, or family members who know us well can provide invaluable guidance.

One practical step we can take is to reach out to those who have witnessed our growth and transformation over time. They can offer a fresh perspective on our unique gifts and talents that we may overlook ourselves. These individuals know us intimately and genuinely want the best for us. Their feedback can help shed light on aspects of ourselves that we might have never considered before.

Proverbs 15:21 says, “Folly is a joy to one who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding walks a straight path.”

Let’s draw inspiration from the story of Paul’s encounter with Ananias in Acts 9:10-19. Ananias was initially reluctant to approach Saul (Paul) because of his reputation as a persecutor of Christians. However, God reassured him that he had chosen Saul for a specific purpose – to proclaim His name among both Jews and Gentiles. Ananias obediently met Saul, laid his hands on him, restored his sight, and spoke words of affirmation into his life: Brother Saul… The Lord Jesus… has sent me so that you may see again (Acts 9:17). Through this encounter, Ananias played an essential role in confirming Paul’s calling as an apostle.

Remember to seek the counsel of the wise, for their words are like oases in the desert of uncertainty; in other words, surround yourself with those who offer guidance and understanding in times of need; their constructive criticism should not be viewed as an attack on your worth or abilities; instead, it provides opportunities for growth. Amen. Proverbs 15:22 says, “Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.” Amen.

Prayer for the Day!
Oh Lord, in your infinite grace and mercy, grant me the courage to embrace change and step outside my comfort zone. Bless me with unwavering faith in your guiding hand throughout this journey, for it is through you that all things are possible. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
