The Power is In the Blood!
“Whom God has set forth a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of past sins, through God’s forbearance.” Romans 3.25
Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects. I love it because it is definite. It’s one of the absolute science humankind has ever discovered. In mathematics, you can be sure the formulae you know today can never be changed due to the modernization of society or whatever new whims man has come to embrace. This is similar to the gospel message we have believed. You can trust the efficacy of God’s word today and always. The scriptures affirm God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19).
Hallelujah! God always keeps His promises. He does not lie (Hebrews 6:18). So, this is the believer’s confidence in this life and the one to come. God has provided a way of escape. He has provided atonement (appeasement) in His Son. The New English Translation says God did it publicly. God showed His righteousness by making us righteous and forgiving our sins. In effect, His righteousness, best described as His loving-kindness and freely given grace, is made known and available in the blood of Jesus. He dealt with sins once and forever through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Ephesians 1:7 says, In Christ, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”
Christ made us alive unto Himself after forgiving our sins. Paul restated the same truth in Colossians 2:13-15 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he made alive together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” By Jesus’ sacrifice, God dealt a final blow to sin. He destroyed the enemy’s hold over us. We are no longer slaves to sin or bound to fulfill the flesh’s appeal.
Brethren, we are irredeemably God’s children. Your salvation is as sure as what Christ has done. He is raised, and you are raised with him. My brother and sister, make that your focus and assurance today. As you go through your day, dwell on what Christ has done, and you will experience the bliss and prosperity his presence gives. The power of Jesus’ blood is an amazing gift from God that brings us hope, healing, forgiveness, and salvation. Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
1. Father, I thank you for the blood on Calvary to bring me to repentance.
2. By the power in the blood, heal me from the affliction of sickness, diseases, and failure, in Jesus’ name!
