“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.” Hebrews 11:23
Unparalleled courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it, as one navigates the unknown with unwavering determination. In the book of Exodus, we find a powerful story that exemplifies courage in the face of adversity. It tells the tale of Moses’ parents, who exhibited unwavering bravery despite being confronted by a tyrannical king who sought to oppress their people.
The Hebrews had prospered and multiplied in Egypt, which alarmed the new Pharaoh. Fearing their potential revolt, he ordered all Hebrew baby boys to be killed at birth. Amid this terrifying decree, Moses’ parents refused to succumb to fear. Hebrews 11:23 describes how they hid baby Moses for three months. Can you imagine the constant anguish and anxiety they must have experienced? Knowing that discovery would mean a certain death for their child, yet they relied on immense faith and strength to protect him.
Exodus 1:22 says, “Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: “Every son born to the Hebrews you must throw into the Nile, but every daughter you may allow to live.”
Ultimately, unable to conceal Moses any longer, they devised an ingenious plan – constructing a basket made of bulrushes and placing the infant within it. Guided by divine intervention, they entrusted their precious son’s life to the Nile River. Their actions reflect unparalleled courage; defying an oppressive ruler is no small feat. They risked everything for their beliefs and trust in God’s protection. Their unwavering bravery serves as a beacon of encouragement for us today.
Let us draw inspiration from this incredible display of resilience when facing challenges or encountering opposition. Like Moses’ parents, may we find solace knowing that our courageous choices can lead to unimaginable blessings and deliverance from our own kings. Remember, Unparalleled courage is not only found in grand acts of heroism but also in the quiet persistence to face adversity day after day without losing hope. Amen. Psalm 56:4 says, “In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” Amen.
