“May the LORD our God be with us as He was with our fathers. May He never leave us nor forsake us.” 1 Kings 8:57
If God is for us, who can be against us? This well-known phrase has been quoted by many in times of hardship and struggle. It comes from the book of Romans, chapter 8, verse 31. It serves as a reminder that no matter what obstacles we may face in life if we have faith and trust in God, we can overcome anything. Remember, Almighty fortress, who had always gone before us in every storm of life and won every battle we faced, is our refuge, and His love endures forever.
Throughout history, there have been countless uplifting stories of people who overcame immense struggles with the help of their faith. For example, Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison for fighting against apartheid in South Africa. During his time behind bars, he prayed and meditated to find strength and hope. As a result, he eventually emerged as a leader and became the first black president of South Africa. Another inspiring example is Mother Teresa, who devoted her life to serving the poor and sick in India.
Psalm 56:9 says, “Then my enemies will retreat on the day I cry for help. By this, I will know that God is on my side.”
It doesn’t matter what we are going through now, remembering that God is with us settles all. A careful observer will often notice when a person diagnosed with cancer goes from a victim to a fighter, moving from a nightmare to an amusing and joyous state. This is because God shines in every shadow of death that crosses our path. A particular lady I met some time ago was being diagnosed with breast cancer; her moment was obvious. She went from tears and disillusionment to living victoriously despite her challenges. She realized her diagnosis was not a surprise to God but something He would use to build her faith and bring glory to His name.
Not only that, but she went from being quiet in the background person to share her story at every opportunity. Likewise, while we might be caught off-guard and surprised by many of life’s events, God is not surprised by our challenges. Life’s difficulties are not to defeat us but to grow us in faith. He gives us His Son, who has a name above every other name, which is JESUS CHRIST. Amen. Philippians 2:9 says, “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name above every name.”
Prayer:
- Father God, give me the wisdom to see You in life’s circumstances.
- 1 Kings 8:57: “May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He never leave us nor forsake us.” in Jesus’ name.
