Walking in the Victory of Christ Jesus!

And since we have the same Spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.” 2 Corinthians 4:13

It is indisputable that Christ’s death and resurrection were for humankind and that the believer has received the same with all it brings. However, what seems to be a division in everyday experience among believers. Sometimes you see believers wallow in less desirable circumstances, live in despair, or succumb to defeat. This ought not to be. God has made available in us as a believer power ‘exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask or think’ (Ephesians 3:20). The believer is God’s house. God’s Spirit eternally lives in us. I am sure you believe in that, right?

In Christ, we have authority ‘far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come (Ephesians 1:21). As a believer, we have all things under his feet. Our identification with Christ affords us this. Now the question I want to ask is, why does the believer’s experience not match this? Is it because they have not consumed their thoughts enough in the sea of this truth?

Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Some believers hardly spend time meditating on the verity of God’s word. We do not hear it well enough, let alone meditate to let it becomes part of our subconscious thoughts. Paul gave Timothy a heads-up on this. ‘Meditate upon these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your progress may appear to all (1 Timothy 4:15). The word progress there describes what a metalsmith does to lengthen a piece of metal. He beats it to length. Meditation is what does this. When we meditate on God’s word, we beat ourselves into the shape of who we inherently are.

We cause ourselves to think about who we are – what God says we are. It’s only then that we ditch the little thinking that has not paid us well. It’s only then that we get into the shape of all that God has made us to be. It’s only then that we achieve the results that God would have us exhibit in this world. Quit just knowing what God’s word says. Begin to meditate on the same actively. Act on that old advice given to Joshua, echoed severally by David – meditate day and night – you will be successful and be prosperous in all your ways (Joshua 1:8, Psalms1:1-3, 119:15). Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” Amen.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for helping me see how to walk in the victory you gave me. Therefore, I choose to apply myself much more in meditation and walk in the result it provides in Jesus’ name. Amen.
