“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:4
You might be familiar with the story of a man who was trying to stick to his diet. As he drove past the donut shop, he couldn’t help but imagine how delicious a donut and a cup of coffee would taste. He told himself that he shouldn’t stop, but deep down, he wondered if it was meant to be. He made a deal with himself that if there was an available parking spot right in front of the shop, it would be a sign for him to stop. To his surprise, after driving around the block seven times, he finally found the perfect parking spot at the donut door.
Sometimes in life, we face similar battles where we search for signs or signals that may not necessarily be divine to make important decisions. In our journey through marriage, business, career, ministry, and family dynamics, we often encounter battles that require us to wield our weapons of warfare unnecessarily; just like the man who wrestled with his desire for a donut while on a diet, we too face internal conflicts and dilemmas. We find ourselves seeking external signs or indications that may guide us toward making the right choices.
1 Peter 1:13 says, “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
However, it’s important to remember that not all these signs are divine in nature. That’s why, in such a moment, we need to apply our weapon of warfare mentioned in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, which says, For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have the divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
When fighting battles in various aspects of life – whether it’s managing personal desires or overcoming temptations – we should take inspiration from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. By acknowledging that our weapons are spiritual rather than physical and seeking God’s guidance through prayer and reflection, we can gain the strength to conquer these battles. Our struggles are not insurmountable; instead, they provide an opportunity for growth and reliance on God’s power. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
Prayer for Today,
1. I declare that every seed of weakness, doubt, confusion, and destruction that the enemy has sown into your marriage be uprooted by the power of Jesus. I speak restoration and healing over your relationship, filling it with love, trust, and unity. May God’s wisdom guide you both in making decisions that strengthen your bond.
2. In the realm of business and career, I command every seed of weakness planted by the enemy to be removed from its roots. In Jesus name. Amen.
God bless you!
