What Makes God Smile? 5

“Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They are like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

Partially trusting can lead to mistrust and conflict in relationships. If you don’t trust your partner, you will be more likely to break up than trust them. When we trust someone, we tend to have a tendency to think that he or she is trustworthy. The partial trust also constrains the flow of love and open up opportunities to hide our feelings and behavior with others. Trust precedes love.

Trusting is an act of confidence, hope, and faith in God’s goodness and mercy. When we trust God, he gives us the ability to see beyond ourselves, to see his good intentions and the plans that He has for us. God knows all the plans in store for us, and He expects us to trust Him in every situation we face. He wants us to be confident in His word and his promises.

God told Jeremiah during the seventy-year of exile to trust that He will do everything for them to have a better future and hope. Jeremiah 29:10-11 God said, “When Babylon’s seventy years are complete, I will attend to you and confirm My promise to restore you to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Likewise, God never forgets His promises to you.

Therefore, commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act at the appointed time. But you have to trust Him completely that He will keep His promises, to deliver you from all kinds of trouble, and do the impossible that is impossible to accomplish. Trust Him with all your heart, be faithful in everything you do and everything you say because it is part of this that makes God smile. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Now without faith, it is impossible to please God since the one who draws near to him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, Help me to trust you in all that I do.
2. Psalm 40:16; Be magnified LORD for my salvation and let your hand of favor rest upon my life in Christ Jesus.
