Lifehack: Add Virtues to Your Faith! Part Two

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in the due season, we will reap if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

I read a story of a young woman, driven by her faith and dreams, who aspired to make a difference in the world. Yet life did not offer the desirable opportunities she was hoping for, and she found herself frustrated with the status quo. She is a strong woman with a strong faith in God who believes that all things are possible with confidence. Yet, with that faith alone, she is desperate to find a helper and believes her prayers will be answered because she needs a companion to assist her in life, turn her life around, and provide comfort, yet each time she prays for help and finds one, she ends up losing it into divorce.

After much contemplation, She started to understand why when a wise mentor told her that although having faith was essential, adding virtue was equally important if she wanted to achieve success. The woman then realized why she was being denied the help she so desperately sought – because she had failed to add virtue, an integral part of true faith. She had married and divorced multiple times due to a lack of understanding of the importance of virtue when looking for love—understanding this concept of adding virtue with faith filled her heart with hope that true love would soon come and fill the emptiness within her soul.

Colossians 3:12 says, “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.”

Virtue is the active effort to do what is right and good, not just believe it is right and good. Without adding virtue to her faith, this woman could have ended up in frustration. For years she blindly trusted in her faith and believed it would be enough for her to live a successful, happy life. Unfortunately, when it comes to having faith, many people make the mistake of thinking that they can rely only on what they have to get by. However, I will encourage you not to fall into that trap of turning your faith into pride: virtue and faith go hand-in-hand. Many could have been frustrated and disappointed without adding virtue to our faith.

Relying solely on one’s capabilities is not always enough. However, you must realize that if you truly want to live a life of fulfillment, you need more than just your strength; You need the fuel that powers faith- namely, virtue. By nurturing your inner self with virtues such as honesty and integrity, you will create an environment where your faith can flourish. Remember, adding virtue to your faith is like fueling a car. Without fuel, the car will not move because it is the virtue that adds dimension to faith and helps us walk in the path of righteousness. Amen. James 3:13 says, “Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct, let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.” Amen.

Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, I forsake any sin in my life assigned to blindfold my helpers of destiny and remove my divine protection.
2. Holy Spirit, purge and purify me of every arrogant behavior that stands in the way of fulfilling my destiny, and help me find a sense of inner peace and understanding in your word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
